In many cases the UI Design it takes as a synonymous of UX Design and even those professionals have similar goals, the tasks that they making to reach out are different.

UI Design, as its name implies, it manages the user interface. The interface could be graphic or developed by technologies like HTML, CSS, YUI, jQuery, etc.

For the smaller projects, it's much more possible to one single professional planning the architecture, drawing the wireframes, propose de the interface design and even develop the codes. However, when the project it's even more complicated, it's essential the participation of more people with more experience. Esta tarea implica el accionar de varios profesionales. En muchas ocasiones el Diseño UI se toma como sinónimo del Diseño UX, y aunque estos profesionales tienen objetivos similares, las tareas que realizan para alcanzarlos son diferentes.

UI Design, como su nombre lo indica, se encarga de la interfaz de usuario. Es decir, este profesional trabaja con el medio que permite la interacción del usuario con el producto, y se preocupa por la usabilidad que el mismo tiene. Esta interfaz puede ser gráfica o desarrollada por tecnologías como HTML, CSS, YUI, jQuery, etc.

Su tarea es la de desarrollar sitios web y aplicaciones de todo tipo, buscando satisfacer las necesidades del usuario, que debe sentirse satisfecho al interactuar con el diseño elaborado por este profesional. Para ello, puede utilizar botones, imágenes, textos, formularios y distintos recursos, que hacen que la experiencia de navegación en un sitio o aplicación sea agradable.

La importancia de su trabajo radica en la necesidad de atraer a los usuarios hacia los sitios web, logrando que estos permanezcan el mayor tiempo posible navegando, y que durante este tiempo se sientan realmente cómodos como para volver. Si el Especialista en UI design no realiza correctamente su trabajo, y los elementos en el sitio son difíciles de encontrar o el diseño es demasiado complejo, el usuario se retirará y probablemente nunca volverá.

Para realizar su trabajo el Especialista en UI design debe tener conocimientos de diseño, diseño gráfico, fotografía, marketing, diseño web y programación.

Por otro lado el diseño UX es un término que actualmente está en esa extraña posición de ser excitantemente nuevo para muchos, considerado como un componente esencial del proceso de diseño web por expertos de la industria.

UX Design (User Experience Design) o “Diseño de Experiencia de Usuario” es una filosofía de diseño que tiene por objetivo la creación de productos que resuelvan necesidades concretas de sus usuarios finales, consiguiendo la mayor satisfacción y mejor experiencia de uso posible con el mínimo esfuerzo. Toma forma como un proceso en el que se utilizan una serie de técnicas multidisciplinares y donde cada decisión tomada debe estar basada en las necesidades, objetivos, expectativas, motivaciones y capacidades de los usuarios.

En realidad el diseño basado en experiencias de usuario se ha dado desde que el hombre ha creado cosas y estas cosas deben ser utilizadas por él mismo o por otros, por lo que es necesario de forma consciente o inconsciente definir los medios, procesos y formas en la que la persona interactuará con ese objeto que puede ser software, una heladera, el control del TV, un automóvil, etc.

Cómo fue surgiendo este nuevo campo ? El campo del conocimiento sobre diseño de software fue creciendo a medida que los sitios eran más complejos. En primer lugar las funciones se dividieron en diseñador y desarrollador.

El diseño de experiencia de usuario es tanto una serie de actividades (investigación, arquitectura de información, diseño de interacción, etc.), así como un nuevo puesto de trabajo. Para proyectos más pequeños es perfectamente factible para una sola persona planificar la arquitectura, dibujar los wireframes, el diseño de la interfaz e incluso código de las páginas. Sin embargo, cuando un proyecto es más complicado necesita más personas con más experiencia. Hoy, los diseñadores web con un interés en la experiencia del usuario se ofrecen como profesionales UX.
